I'm a good person and good people go to heaven. This is a common misconception about Christianity. People think it's about being good. If that were true there would be no one in heaven but God and his angels (and not all of them).
It would also mean that you are headed for hell—whether you a good person or not. The Bible says that all people sin and therefore fall short of God's expectation of heaven's glory.
(Romans 3:23)

We are part of a legal system called the law that God expects all people to follow. The trick is that no one can follow it. Everyone is corrupt; there is no good person. Not even one. (Psalm 14:3) No matter how hard you work at it there is still corruption in your life. Face it: you can't even get from the start of one day to its end without breaking some law—let alone get to heaven by keeping God's law. So if eternity is predicated on being good, then everyone is in eternal trouble.

So where are you headed? The answer to that question is simple to answer, even though people often try to make it difficult. The Apostle Paul (among other writers of the New Testament) said there is only one way to get to heaven: faith in what God did for you instead of in what you do for God. (Ephesians 2:8) Jesus himself confirmed this when he said that he is the only way to heaven. (John 14:6)
Should you try to be good? Sure. Should you rely on your goodness. No; you cannot rely on that because you are not good. You should rely on God's gift of righteousness.
(Romans 3:24) It is the only way to be justified in God's eyes. Therefore it is the only way to be headed to heaven.
